Magnetti Marelli boot struts fitted, replaces the rusty ones I only fitted in Feb!

Speaking of boot, enjoyed booting it around Trafford Park, just because I can now.

Got updated insurance quotes, looks like I'll be staying with Elephant (probably not worth the effort of cancelling early) but some decisions to make next time, as it's clear I'll be paying about £80 a year more insurance just to have the strut braces on the car. Bum.

List updated....

ALREADY DONE:
- front ARB bushes u/g to Meyle HD, fixes wafty steering and o/s/f knock
- new MAF to fix 'Flat spots' on acceleration (could have been MAF, N75, turbo pipes, fuel, etc.)
- upgraded front suspension to Sport legs
- Fit USB socket for Grom
- new Scosche high-power USB 12V adapter
- Grom MP3 ID3 tags and folder names on HU1205
- uploaded HU1205 satnav CDROMs (URLs to follow as I've managed to get them on my webspace now!)
- boot struts changed (again!)
- *OE seatbelt clicker restored (was some crap a/m buzzer)
- *o/s left leg carpet trim replaced
- *loose/damaged plastic boot trims replaced
- *air recirculation motor clicking
*Gatos basically did this, or at least helped a lot
STILL TO DO:

Mechanical:
- Dragon Tuning box
- Air con re-gassing (routine, and also starting to smell a bit for some reason)
- Rear o/s creak from suspension bush?
- Front or rear(?) n/s creak almost definitely from sticking caliper
- Gearbox fluid change
- Injector clean/flush
- Fuel Tank clean/flush with FuelSet or Redex or something similar
- Service due soon
- handbrake is quite tired -- probably related to sticking caliper
Interior:
- Steering column cowl wobbly/loose (actually this keeps getting stuck but only when it's wonky!)
- Swap cabling for phone dock (USB/3.5mm split cable and low AWG "USB power" cable)
- o/s heated seat not working (probably sensor/wiring issue, I'm definitely going to get this done before next winter)
Exterior:
- Rear wiper starting to butterfly
- front o/s wiper arm lifting again, will probably do the V50 arm hack
- Headlamps wiper/spray not working both sides
- n/s windscreen spray jet loose (although seems OK at the mo)
- o/s/f chrome handle broken (have spares now thanks to siamblue)
- refurb wheels (or just buy refurbished ones)
- Bumper scrapes and scuffs (£170 quoted)
- Car park scuffs down both sides (£20 "per panel" quoted but there are only about 10 tiny scuffs in the lacquer) and a couple of very tiny dents to pull out -- I hate careless people in car parks.
- Treat rust spot on o/s/f door seam weld
- Treat rusty bits on front wiper arms (black Hammerite?)
- POR15/Vactan for the odd rusty bits around engine bay
- Waxoyl/Dinitrol underneath -- I've grounded it 3 times last year!
- Paint brake calipers & carriers (colour TBD but black seems likely)
- spray ex-Dog_book waterfall grille with Plasti-Dip and see how it looks
- fit UR lower front strut brace (powder coated black and bought from someone on the forum)
- fit Evo rear strut brace
- find an upper front strut brace and fit it, undecided on Evo, UR or Volvo

Nice informative post
Never thought about getting the couple of issues on my car sorted. Pretty much confined to the rear passenger door (small but noticable chip through the lacquer, possibly down to undercoat, hard to tell on silver and a dent) and front bumper. What sort of places do you call around to get a quote for getting it sorted? Are they actually any good?
Didn't think either could be that affordable really. Hrm...

I spent most of today trying to find and get rid of an annoying rattle my V40 had developed, somewhere in the boot area.
I removed all my stuff and the spare out from under the boot floor, test drove and it still rattles.
I remove the tailgate trim as it sounds like this is where it comes from, tighten/check everything, test drove, still rattles.
I check the fold down rear seats, headrests, and test drive it with the seats folded down, it still rattles.
Then I mess with the rear seat belts and plug them in, then go in the rear area and lower the head lining to check the aerial as I fitted a new rubber gaskit to its base a while ago, test drive and it has gone, don't know exactly which fix fixed it but if it comes back I'll know what to look for.
Then I treated it to a full vacuum and clean inside and wash outside, it's a happy car again. :-)

Sound like a fun day! Glad you got it sorted - nothing niggles like a rattle!

I took a can of black satin hamerite to spray the ends of my dog guard and the can- an old one - burst out of the top. Lucky i did by the sheds, no mess near the car! New black paint and wet and dry on my shopping list. Wet and dry for my wheel refurb, still not got to it.

Fitted a "new" aerial mast to mine, from the same seller that does the rubber seal for the roof aerial
Just need to go to bad reception areas now to check it out.

Well at long last my strut mounts are done, and new HD drop links. I never thought my steering was heavy but now, oh my!, much better!
