Many thanks for that. What a brilliant community this is. As it happens, Derek pointed me in the direction of a stainless item on eBay produced by a Greek engineer/ Amazon enthusiast so that's solved now. I'll be checking on your thread to see how the B 18 is progressing. Cheers

Building the engine in the comfort and warmth of the conservatory was great. Getting it out, down the steps and across the garden to the Amazon cave was quite another. An understanding wife helps. Have also just got a boss welded into my new aluminium rad to take a thermo switch. Plan to finish prep on the engine bay today and mate engine clutch and gearbox ready for weekend fitment. Next job will be making up the exhaust to weld to the 2.5" tubular manifold from Trimning.

Engine in the car- very smooth job. As usual it's the little things that screw things up. Can't get the clutch bled and so following other advice on this
Forum I'm going to get myself an eezi bleed. Does anyone know which kit has the right caps in for our cars before I order from the dreaded eBay?

I had this problem last time I did it and found I hadn't undone the bleed screw on the slave enough. It appeared to just need cracking open but needed another half turn. I use one of the rubber tubes with a split in the end so a one person job.

Thanks Derek. I've only ever done just as you describe but just couldn't get any joy with it. I've put it to bed for another day before it all goes wrong.

You can make your own bleeder from a glass jar and rubber tube.

I have a bleed kit you can use. Save the hassle of buying one

Cheers Russ that's very good of you. I'm not going to be able to get over your way for some time unfortunately.

evening all- so I borrowed an eezibleed from a friend and its very easy to use but one litre of fluid later and still only the glimmerings of a pedal when I pump it. The master cylinder came from Simon just over a year ago and the slave cylinder and hose were replaced when i recommissioned the car in 2010. Try a seal kit in the slave cylinder first? your thoughts appreciated as ever.

First thoughts would be to check for any weeping unions.
Then the slave, which I would disconnect and make up a jury rig blank. A hose joiner and a length of pipe crimped over works well. If prior to really crimpimp hard you rid most of the air you should be able to ascertain if the issue lies with the slave or MC.
I've never had a lot of joy with repair kits and tend to bite the bullet and by the assembly. They were £25, may be different now
