I did the same via salary sacrifice scheme (and same car) and also quoted 15 weeks...which is just a load of rubbish!

Mine was also ordered as an Ultimate back in Dec, but I've seen the order form from Volvo UK and it's been placed as an Ultra (MY25) - I was told there are no build slots for MY24 cars so all new orders would be MY25, with build dates starting in June (in Europe, not China)

I have a couple of questions, that hopefully you wonderful people can shed some light upon.

This week I placed an order for an XC60 T8 Recharge Ultimate Dark through my work's salary sacrifice scheme.
They say the lead time at present is 15 weeks.
I am seeing here that the Ultimate moniker has been dropped and replaced with Ultra.
Does anyone know the differences, if any? Or is it just a rename of the line, and do Volvo just shift orders for Ultimate onto Ultra now? I imagine it would create something of an administrative nightmare to contact every customer waiting, otherwise?
In which case I would have thought there was no difference in the two in terms of specs.
I have checked the P11d value of my car I've ordered with the pricing of the Ultra and it is the same, down to the penny,(when the cost of the wheels I chose is removed) so I imagine the order placed is for the Ultra, and the leasing company have just not updated the name.

Are these delays people are having consistent with all customers, or is it happening with some people and not others?
This will be my first brand new car in 10 years, and I had forgotten how painfully inconvenient the wait can be.
The last time I ordered in May 2014, and the car arrived with me in September 2014. Ever since then I have bought used.

I hope this turns out to be a pleasant experience!

I have had an email confirming “Estimated Early June” which is (in my head) up to 17 weeks away. And states awaiting build slot, which is consistent with yours.
I’m being optimistic that moving production back to Europe will be massively beneficial to the process.
Keep us updated on your progress, won’t you? And I will do the same.
Honestly this is one of the reasons I’ve only ever bought one brand new car. Humans don’t do delayed gratification well!

Which company is providing the salary sacrifice scheme for you?

According to an article in Auto Express this week, the “Recharge” name is being dropped for MY25, they will just be badged T6 and T8.

The Recharge badge is also being dropped from the XC40 and C40 models.

My XC90 is up for change in June and due to price increases, I can no longer afford an XC90 (I'm on my 6th). So, I'm looking at an XC60, either personal deal (petrol) or Company Car (PHEV).

Got the option for full electric via salary sacrifice, but the premium models (Volvo and non-Volvo) are way too expensive and I'm still not convinced on the whole EV thing anyway.

I'll pop in to my local dealer on the way home and have a chat with them.
Similar position in that price rises and options being withdrawn to push you up the trim curve mean that my XC90 would cost nearly 50% more to replace. This doesn't work for an old design and the XC60 boot is too small for me. I just decided to keep my own car another few years. Why don't you just do that?

It's a lease car - I'd have to extend the lease for the same monthly payments. Car is 4 years old (service plan has ended) so I'll have servicing costs as well as the risk of paying for anything going wrong with the car, which I won't have any budget for.

I know there are extended warranties, but there's things outside of the warranty that could be costly.

I can get a Kia EV9 6 seat top spec, under salary sacrifice (fully maintained). The monthly payments are double the XC90, but due to the tax/NI savings my take home pay will be actually slightly higher.

It's Tusker...I'm going to guess that's the same for you, as mine is also showing delivery as 'Estimated Early June' and awaiting build slot.

I spoke to the dealer providing the car a few weeks back and they advised it won't be built before June at the earliest

The 'Recharge' name has disappeared from the XC60 on the Volvo website so this sounds likely

And from the recent press release:

'Volvo Cars is streamlining and standardising its model names for fully electric cars, in line with our ongoing transformation towards becoming a fully electric car maker by 2030.

The fully electric XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge models are renamed to EX40 and EC40 respectively, now seamlessly fitting in with our other fully electric models: the EX30, EX90 and EM90. The XC40 name remains for internal combustion-powered variants of the model.

The update also includes the removal of Recharge badging from our plug-in hybrid models, which are now denoted simply by the T6 or T8 suffix indicating different levels of power output.'

Yes, Tusker here, too!
How did you find out which dealer would be sorting it out for you, and at what stage? Do they contact you to establish the customer connection?

Apparently the dealer will be in contact when a build slot has been confirmed, but I have no patience and wanted to make sure the correct order had gone in!

So spoke to Tusker who provided a contact at Volvo UK - they then put me in contact with the supplying dealer.

katie.boorman@volvocars.com

When I spoke to the dealer a few weeks ago, they suggested that a built slot could be allocated around now/early March...nothing as yet.
