Listen if you hear the clicking sound of what sounds like a relay. If that is the case, then it is a clear cut sign of too much current due to too much mechanical resistance in the motor/wiper construction.

The restingposition *should* be determined by the white wheel in my post above: there are three contacts that are pressed against the three circles on that wheel. That's where the information comes from where the wiper is located, at what angle it is.

As mentioned, there is something going on there that I haven't figured out, so all my help is based on 'as far as I think I understand how it works'.

If anyone wants a motor for parts, I have one available. The teeth on the white cog are stripped, and it might be missing a few bits here and there, but it's 99% complete. Any interest?

cheers

James

Since my wheel is perfect, but crevice corrosion ate away at my (hollow) axle: yes please!!! I'll PM you. Probably sucks cause of the postage, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Default Brass water tube

My problem with the tailgate wiper assembly is no spray of water onto the rear screen. There is a good spurt once I disconnect the tubing and switch on the water jet. When I connect a short length of plastic tubing to the push on connector on the wiper assembly and blow into it,it is obviously blocked,no air comes out on the outside,(with plastic water jet removed) Questions-----
1)Is there a kit available to replace the brass water tube, within the assembly?
2) Can I remove the existing tube, without removing the wiper assembly from the tailgate?
3) Any guideance on removing the wiper arm. On initial checks it appears stuck fast on the splines, if i should need to remove the wiper assembly.

Default Tailgte Water jets Working

My thanks go to fluff110,and Mike in FRF Volvo, who identified the parts I required, and dispatched them quickly The small O ring refered to above is part of the "non return valve kit" 30649037 I was surprised i could'nt blow through the new part from either end, although water spurted out when I connected the hose.

Hi Guys, my late 2004 V70 D5 has an issue with the rear washer being fine, but wiper will only move if I give it a nudge.

If I switch the rear wiper on, nothing happens, but If go and push the arm, I get one sweep.

Any thoughts?

I had this problem very recently, it was as if something was binding up in the mechanism. I opened the bootlid and put WD40 in the end of the shaft under the spray jet - this worked for a short period then the mechanism got stiffer and would not go to the wiper parked position and the motor was running constantly. At this point I changed the wiper mechanism out for one from a scrapyard..........£54 later all is well! It's a 20 minute job to do with only a few tools required. I did strip my old wiper mechanism; the white plastic wheel had stripped its teeth and it had a lot of rusty crap in the mechanism.
Hope this helps,
Nobby
