Default V Power Diesel

Hi,
I've used only ordinary diesel on my xc90 sports 2007 during the last 2rs.
I filled up from empty on v power. I calculated mpg manually. I do the same journey into London. Stop start. Mpg has improved from 22 to 23.5. But is most impressive is the pickup and smoothness of the engine. Definitely accelerates quicker. I will report back after another 2 tankfulls. Hope this helps.

Filled up earlier in the week with regular shell diesel and that has returned an average 30.6 MPG.

Filled up again today with regular shell diesel but this time added Redex diesel treatment, so let's see how this tankfull goes then its onto V-Power
Tweaked my little experiment slightly, I felt that maybe 5 full tanks would return a fairer average, so here's how the 5 tankfuls of regular Shell diesel has faired over a good range of roads.

T1 - 30.6
T2 - 29.8 *note: I added Redex in with this fill up (mistake)
T3 - 28.6
T4 - 29.4
T5 - 28.1

So that gives Regular Shell Diesel an average of 29.3 MPG in my XC.

I have filled up with V-Power diesel this morning so will keep you posted on how things work out with that.

I have used V-Power for the last 4 tankfulls, and initially I was getting a modest improvement in economy. However, the last 2 tanks did not show any improvement.

The vehicle only has 3000 miles on it, so I think it's early days with regards to economy. I expect it will improve as the engine beds in.

The best I was getting was a 5% improvement, for a 6% extra cost.

I typically always buy Shell anyway, but I think I'll stick to the regular diesel for the time being.

When the weather was warmer, I was getting 31/32 mpg, I am now getting 29/30.

Cold weather can increase fuel consumption by up to 20%
