although it feels effortless and hardly any throttle at 80 mph, it uses a LOT more fuel than at 60 mph where you will get the economy you expect .. do you reset your fuel computer before each journey?

262 coupe,
Yes tried that got about 25 channels but we where on the move. I tested the signal strength and it was 0%. Will try again today. Not had the time to try all the toys out yet! I am getting a whining noise at low speed when I turn the steering to the right between 10 and 20 degrees. Anyone had that ? Does not seen right to me. The control for the seat functionality is in the wrong position. It is difficulty to get your hands down the side of the door to get to it. Or have I just got fat hands? Love the car so far though. Its a lot slower then my 335i bmw and obviously does not have the handling of my honda s2000 but its fun to drive. Especially in this weather. |

The noise gradually diseapered although I still get it while reversing and turning slighly the steering wheel sometimes I told them three times and three times they said it was all ok. I know within warranty they will tell me it needs a new right hand brake disk and say it is normal wear and tear. |

I thought at first the grinding/winding noise was steering related but it does just seem to come on at low speed without moving the wheel.
The seat controls are laughable since they only visible with the door open. However the seats are the best I've ever had so I'll just get used to them I guess. I'm having side steps and a tow bar fitted next week so I'll ask them to look at the steering. Handling on snow is ok but is not as good as my mini with winter tyres on!. I think it's too late to sort this out this year but I'll be looking for some oem 17-18 inch alloys to put some vredsteins for next year. Otherwise I'm very happy with the Volvo. It's certainly the best car I've had. It's very thirsty though! |

and you cannot claim more than the 40p a mile from HRMC, the same as 10 years ago when diesel was 65p! I heard recently that MPs can claim back 50p a litre... not sure if it is true but I would not be surprised. B..... |

So what happened with this? I think we've got the same thing, not whining and not steering related.

Took mine out for a short run today and no noise whatsoever. If it is a tight joint or dry bearing it might only happen after things warm up - after a decent run or when the temp is a little higher (it was below freezing today in Lincs)
Re fuel consumption. I think we can all expect around 10% improvement once they have a few thousand miles under their belts and current stocks of fuel probably have additional anti-freeze added which will not help either. It would not appear however that the 200hp Euro V version is going to be any more frugal than a 185 as 34 on A class roads taking it easy and around 30 at motorway speeds was the norm on my 08 plate. It's a big beast with plenty of frontal area so consumption is likely to rise exponentially as the speed climbs above 80 or so. |
