Not a huge fan of KwikFit, but had two CEAT (Pirelli) tyres fitted by them to the rear of my V70 D5 December last year. Tyres have now done the best part of 15000 miles and still have, I would guess, around 5mm of tread left. No road noise and a good ride so far.
However, the best bit is KwikFits life time guarantee. I had a nail in one of them only two weeks after having them fitted. Repaired for FREE ! I have now swapped them onto the front and had two new ones fitted to the rear. Cost £97 each including balancing, etc. I can certainly recommend them. No tramlining and my wishbone bushes require replacing! |

only effects 17/18 inch wheels, but if you have 16 inch they are too thin and you wheel spin all the power away in a t5,

My V70 had 17s on it when I bought it and it was a bugger for wandering around the road!
A set of 15s off the bay, with budget tyres on them and the problem was solved. The ride is smoother too.. |

I have tried various different tyres on my S60. The worst ones are on now. Toyo TR1's. these are the worst tyres I have ever had. The best I have come accross, and would fit again are Falken F452's. These get a good review and I found that they grip better in all weather and last longer than anything else i have used. see link for tyre reviews. www.tyrereviews.co.uk

I have a race car v70 340 bhp tuned with 16" wheels, Ive tried just about every tyre on this car over the last 5 years and the only one that makes her handle and grip the road well are good year nct 5's They are slightly noisier but worth it with absolutely no tramlining whatsoever.

I have a 2003 V70 D5 SE with 17" wheels
I have always used Michelin Pilot Premacys and I have not had any tramlining issues. Would 16" or 15" wheels go onto my car, and if so, what differences would they make? Also, would I use the same width? The 17" tyres are ridiculously expensive and the car does NOT need 17" wheels - ah - we're all slaves to fashion |

im on 16''
i can't say that it tramlines, but it does sniff out the camber like anything else to throw my 2p in, the toyo proxes are good but too soft a compound so don't last long. just changed to conti sport contact 2's |

I've just seen some of the chat re V70 'tramlining.' I've also posted a general note today on tyres including just that. I've run an S60T since 2005 - on Pirelli P6000's as original and later on Goodyear F1 with pretty 'V' tread. Size is 225 x 45, 17 inch. Hi-Q offered Sava Intensa UHP as a lower cost replacement for the fronts at £80 each total, comp with £110 upwards for Goodyear etc. I find them really good. No wandering / tramlining (unlike the others), good on fast bends, wet or dry, good traction & braking and somehow more comfortable - they don't feel so hard. Only done 1500 miles or so thus can't tell how long they'l last. Wife as passenger even notices better directional stability and feels more at ease. Had laser alignment done at same time which also helped, tho alignment had been done on earlier tyres without curing problem. You can look up Sava on internet - they have very modern plant in Slovenia, I think with Goodyear behind it anyway. The tyres are a silicon compound. Hope this of interest - Alan C.

Those of you who have changed from 17" to 16", what size 16" tyres have you fitted? My car has 225\45\17 at the moment, I assume the best 16" size would be 225\50\16?
