Hi Mark
I've been quietly following your progress with Trigger on the Forum, and must say that I'm mightily impressed with all the time, effort and money that you've put into her. She's definitely landed on her feet (so to speak) with you and I hope that you'll continue to get a lot if pleasure from her in the future. Cheers. |

She's going well and getting used a lot more than I expected. My other car ( Big Vic ) has hardly been out of the garage since November ! And thanks again for kindly passing her on to me Cheers,Mark

Little job
Had a clicking noise coming from my offside brakes. Took the front wheels off on Tuesday and couldn't see anything untoward so I whipped both rears off today. ( Jacking up on diff worked a treat )
Offside caliper only had one pin holding the pads in and no clip Not sure if the pin was never there or has somehow worked its way out ? Anyhoo a quick trip to ECP for a pad fixing kit for a fiver and all is well I was going to take the disc off to check the handbrake shoes but I couldn't budge the bottom 13mm bolt I'll perhaps have another go after a good dose of penetrating oil. Let it soak 5 minutes and undo it. It needs a good shake before each use but is amazingly good. If using a spray, make sure it'll cope with the acetone and whatever you use, keep it sealed between uses to prevent the acetone evaporating.

little polish
No mechanical work today as the old back was sore from yesterday
Gave Trigger a little wash and a polish. She's by no means perfect after 23 years but a coat of super resin followed by some extra gloss and she looked not bad I even managed a moon reflection on the bonnet IMG_2926.jpg IMG_2927.jpg

I'm trying to resist being too precious with Trigger but once I start there's no stopping me She was acquired ( can't say bought as I got her for free ) to be used for ferrying the dog around etc so I don't want to start over polishing and not wanting to get her dirty ! My V70 is the garage Queen Or as my wife calls it. "The bl**dy display cabinet car" That no one else is allowed to sit in

I've never been a big fan of washing and polishing the car Mark but i do like a clean car - something not quite right there but it sort of tells you when it gets too much to handle, i will give it a thorough clean!
Like you, mine is mainly a dog-mobile but it scrubs up nicely when i need it to. It's got a few little age-related battle-scars but it'll be 31 come August so i'm not wildly worried about them. My "garage queen" is my Rover, that's got some peeling lacquer but other than that and a couple of minor things, it's pretty good for 25 years old this year! It usually gets kept cleaner than the Dogmobile as well and is still scarily rapid!

soldering on !
No major jobs today as I was too busy this morning
I did however solder grain of wheat bulbs into all my bulb holders that were out Heated seats, Ashtray and the little light in the cubby thing. Quite fiddly and my soldering skills leave a lot to be desired but quite satisfying to have all lights back on. No pics as you can't see them in daylight
