Latest was 22.6 MPG, trying to get out of Manchester city center at rush hour is mental.

My '97 V40 SE 2.0i manual with 142k miles averages 30-32mpg in 50/50 town/A-road driving. Notice the fuel consumption is increasing now we're getting into the colder weather though.

Are you going in reverse or something? Keep fiddling with the wind direction and you'll be ready to enter the America's Cup before long. Don't think it's been won by an S40 before.

Well, I'll try not to jinx it by further comment - it may be a mystery but it can only be good news. What a result! I'm dying to see this secret machine of yours at some point.

My T4 said it's average MPG was 30mpg, the average speed was 24mph.
Having owned it for almost 2 weeks the MPG is down to 21 (had dropped lower but trying to save on fuel now), the average speed is now 32mph. I do mostly town driving (school run) and the odd bit of driving up & down the A1 (normally during busy periods). I find the Cruise Control helps to keep the average mpg out of the high teens. Does anyone find the AirCon uses more fuel? as it will be on constantly once summer is here. |
