I did contact the seller but as of yet no responce.WELL you never know someone might have had a change of heart when they actually saw the condition first hand?

I only got my Limo due to the buyer not turning up.And I got an awful lot off the sale price.
If the winning bidder had more feedback other than zero I could well beleave they weren't happy when they saw it for real and wouldn't honour the final price?.Not as described.

Still not happy with the other half as she talked me out of it.

I could have had the engine out by now and started fitting one of my 2.3L redblocks in it.
Regards Brian.

One of my friends bought the "middle" one...I'll be very interested to see it!

It's amazing to think what else may be squirrelled away in dark corners. There are no TEs listed on "howmanyleft"...these ones will have skipped it because they're pre-SORN. A very knowledgeable friend once commented that there are only two 264TEs in the country, both of which he has inspected. One was in reasonable condition, the other needed two rear 3/4 panels...which are still available from Volvo, but cost £2500 each. I guess he didn't know about these three! What else might be out there? I have a 343 in pretty good condition which has 11k on the clock and hasn't has an MOT since 1995...not as unusual as a TE, but still a strange story. Definitely "barn find" territory.

As for bangers...nothing against people who want to have a bit of fun with scrappers, but I really don't understand the fascination that a minority have with destroying rare metal. Having said that, I know where there is a much more banger-friendly 264TE which the owner would probably be very happy to swap for one of these fairly nice ones...who knows, maybe plus cash? Is it worth you guys with connections in that world mentioning that if the subject comes up?

cheers

James

I'd be happy to get the word out there James, and thanks for letting us know that at least one is safe (for now).

I don't know if you saw the reports on the all Austin Westminster race, over 100 cars destroyed. I read in a classic car magazine that even a hardened racer lamented to the effect that "... it can't ever happen again, there's not enough left now..."

Perhaps instead there should be a class just for smart cars or Kias?! I must suggest this!

Me too James!

Can you persuade your friend to post photos on here and, even better, take it to a VOC meet

John

Just tried it and looks fine.
Who's a clever boy then.....ME

That car did not sell. The owner only wanted to see how much people would pay for that sort of car.

I'm sure it will be appearing at a meet at some point. I'll see what I can do about photos. He did confess it was a "post pub purchase"...but it's not his first "extended wheelbase" Volvo...!

cheers

James

My banger racing contact says it's all quiet at the mo, no one has owned up to a 264 limo purchase, but he did add that a lot of people keep there cards close to their chest when they aquire something rare and a bit special.

So, have to keep crossing those fingers that no news is good news!

On a sad note, apparently a 262 is due to be raced this weekend...

Forgot to say the 262 is at cowdenbeath.

I only get to ask so many questions before they start getting nervous, they think I might turn into the racing equivalent of a hunt saboteur, maybe infiltrate the pits and nick all the rotor arms or something!
