Did mine today. It is a bloody mess but was worth it. Throttle response much better and on a 18-20mls testdrive the mpg jumped right up from 25 to 31. I did reset the counter some days ago so the 25 was probably too low but wasn't happy with the mpg before in the low 30s. It now looks like the mpg will rise further.

Just done my again after a year from cleaning it out. Hardly any build up at all this time. Will do it again next year.

Don't forget that although this sooty muck gets stuck on the inlet tract walls, this recycled soot also makes its way into the engine oil, scouring out the bearings and blocking up the oilways. Breathing fresh air will make the engines mpg rise, the engine will be a lot livelier, the oil will stay cleaner. I never got any MIL lamps up on the dash although the OBD2 does record 'low EGR flow'. Chris |

when i get a chance i will get some lovely EGR blanking plates made by a mate using his super funky CNC machine thingy . Will offer them on the forum for what ever they cost

Im going to give mine a clean, would love to have a group buy or something for blanking plates, there are loads on ebay for landrovers etc but none for the volvo's.
