You will need to have a 6mm, 8mm and 12.5mm drill bits. Though 12.5 doesnt fit in a standard chuck! I used a 10mm and expanded to suite.

The bolts are torx aswell, not sure what size though.

Raife have you made a descission on how you are turning them on and off.

Just so you know, if you do get your volvo drls deactivated when youve turned the switch all the way on so dipped main beams is on, if you switch off the engine the lights do go OFF!

This means you could leave the switch on and they would behave as before.

Or off and the new leds come on.

To be honest I drove yesterday morning at 4am in the dark for the first time and nobody flashed me if they were too bright.

I think my placement of them means the brightest aspect is firing out to the sides slightly, Ideal to stop people pulling out of junctions on me but not dazzling oncoming vehicles!!

I'm thinking of just living with them all the time for now until I speak to Auto-electrician uncle and seeing if he has a "free" way of relaying them.

Drove the Volvo from North Devon to Heathrow and back again yesterday morning. Got out and felt like i'd not even been driving!! - great car!

Well I drove into London today, stopped at services for a coffee, wandering around next to the car supping my espresso and looked at the led's and guess what 3 of them have stopped working on the drivers side unit.

WTF, I know my joints are good, they are connected correctly. I am suspecting now that these units are in fact cheap crap.

Not happy especially after going to the retailer once already!!

I think I'm going to try another brand

Thats pants.

I cleaned the car today and the lenses have steamed up so I guess they are not sealed very well as you suspected.

When I got in it today, they all came on again, then when home checked before switching off and those 3 were off again, so its got to be a dry joint.

Gonna pop it out tomorrow and hopefully repair.

The sealant is only a few quid mate and took seconds to do, might be worth it!

Took the faulty unit apart last night, resoldered every joint but to no avail.

I worked the circuit route and bridged and could make them come on but its not that simple as there are other components in line between the leds.

Anyway in taking apart can catagorically say they are not water tight and you need to seal them asap!

Ive ordered a similar set so will show some pics etc when fitted.

Raife I'll send you my units when finished then you will have some spares and hopefully you can keep yours going!

Well I ordered the replacements, all in fitted and working. These have an auto dimming or auto off built into them so very easy to wire in. They are more expensive but the quality is much better. A bit more subtle too.

£99.95 from

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-STYLE...4#ht_906wt_922

www.dectane.de is the official product site, look under litec on the left.

They are very different to the others. they have a smoked lens, and aren't solid reflectors like the previous. They are as bright lamp wise but not as a bar of light like the previous. They are also all pointed forward so compensate for the radius were as the old didn't they fanned like the radius.
So its more of a 5 individual sections type thing but each section has 4 led's.

Hope that helps?
