I'm not sure how safe this is. Sure, it's mostly the friction on the bolt threads that keeps it from loosen up by itself, but grease is never the answer.

Here's what I did, a better - and safer - choice.

Default Fixed my trailer electrics

Finally got around to looking at why the lights on my trailer would not work. I've had the XC70 since February this year and it came already fitted with a Volvo tow bar and 13-pin socket. I had gone to the expense of an adaptor only to find that the socket was 'dead'.
I pulled out the rear side panel and had a look at the trailer module and wiring and found that the module has been wet at some time. This is suspicious since the sellers had had problems with the REM prior to our purchase.
Anyway, rather than spend too much time on it I stripped it out after first disconnecting the battery and installed the wiring module and setup with a single 7-pin socket (non-Volvo) that I removed from my V70 before the scrap man took it.
All working now! I don't need the full pin out provided by the 13-pin socket as I only tow a boat trailer.
I had left a CD in the radio and for a few worrying seconds the autochanger went bananas after the battery was reconnected, before spitting out the single CD...

Default Indicator stalk

Well having read a few posts about indicator stalk problems on the forum over the past year, mine decided it would join the club. It was getting intermittent on turning and I was having to operate the stalk a couple of time top get it working. So......... using this very helpful thread http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=138871 I removed the stalk and circuit board and cleaned the contacts. I used an electrical contact cleaner and some cotton buds.

Every thing back to normal.

Default Vacuum engine mount leak found

I did some diagnostic work on the D5 vacuum system to find the cause of the D5 'popping' sound which, unsurprisingly, my newly acquired XC70 suffers from. Using Sirobb's very helpful videos and a vacuum tester I found it was a leaky front engine mount that is the culprit. I'm greatly relieved that it's only the front one since the access to the rear one looks like a nightmare on the XC with the angle drive etc.
Now to order a replacement mount...

I washed my s60 d5 The 1st time in 2 years, used demon snow foam, and jet wash,, now it is dry I can still see a lot of dirt ,, so will have to give it a hot soapy sponge wash and wax,, I then need to do it more often, going to fit new steering limiters tomorrow

Get a clay bar and pull the dirt out of your paint before a) scouring it into the paint, b) muscling the dirt round 'n round with a sponge and scratching the paint, c) foolishly rubbing the dirt round 'n round as you apply wax.

Get it clean with a clay bar first.

A 15yr old car might need two clay bars!

I use the Bilt Hamber Medium bar but if yours has never been clayed before then it'd be best to go for the Regular. No special lubricating fluid needed, just tap water in a spray bottle (although some people like to add a drop of car shampoo).
