Apparently the same vehicle 'went rogue' last December when the driver couldn't get it out of gear. The car went back to Jaguar and was apparently 'fixed'. Doesn't inspire confidence in JLR vehicles.

It woukd be a stretch to assume anyone has any confidence in JLR products. An L405 Range Rover owning friend commented it was a lovely place to sit in and wait for the AA. Again.

Hasn't this been happening with ICE cars for decades? I'm sure both Audi and Toyota had huge recall programmes in the past for unintended acceleration? Strange there is loads of publicity when it's an EV?

The outcome of this will be interesting and if JLR is prepared to fess up that there’s a problem. Wasn’t there something like this that happened with an articulated truck thumping down the M1 apparently with the throttle stuck open. It turned out the driver was an attention seeker and there was nothing wrong with the truck. I do wonder in these situations whether it’s shall we say… invented

Yes it was way back in the late 80s/ early90s when Scania introduced electronic throttle control, there were a lot of people keen to find fault with them too. On the flip side when I had a truck with the throttle stuck open on the motorway a few years later, it was a conventional cable that froze solid.

And the Audi episode resulted in Audi being totally exonerated and the so called 'proof' demonstrated on '60 minutes' was found to have been engineered.

So there's that.

Then the so called 'TV Star' in the Jagwah incident is someone who won 'Im an arse so get me out of here' who in no way feels that a bit of publicity and sympathy would do his flagging career some good. No sirree Bob.

So, there's that on top.

I’m not saying it doesn’t happen. One of my old girlfriends had a car which she’d bought cheap and the Earth cable was iffy sooooo it earthed through the throttle cable and fused itself at 3k revs. That’s was fun roadside repair.
Let’s see what the outcome is going to be.

I'm sure Toyota paid out billions didn't they, perhaps in the States?

Innit funny how cars that are shipped all over the world only have problems in the States?
