P0300 Misfire At least one cylinder P1672 Power supply 5 volts Signal too low. Intermittent Fault Did the RAC guy reset the codes? if so hows it running now? if still the same get the codes read with Volvo software as this will determine where the real problem lies. But looking at those codes i would assume you have at least 2 faulty sensors |

That's bad luck.
What engine is it? If it's a VVT engine then P0300 is a misfire code. P0135 I think means that the front O2 sensor isn't happy, and P1672 I think means that the camshaft reset valve isn't functioning properly. The three are very probably all linked to a single fault. Try this link: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...ighlight=P1672 You could just try disconnecting the battery for twenty minutes and see if this clears things. It might do, but if there is a fault then the codes and the light and the running issue will come back. Did you get the car from a dealer? If so then you need to get it back - even at 13 years old, a second hand car from a dealer should go for a bit more than three days! Jack Last edited by capt jack; Dec 23rd, 2012 at 17:01. |

You may well have nothing more than a dodgy earth for the ECU - I think they terminate around the driver's side headlamp IIRC - reason I say this is the last code, low ECU voltage - if the whole ECU is not getting the right voltage then it could cause it to throw all sorts of codes when in fact nothing is really wrong with any of the sensors.
That's what I'd check first, at any rate. Cheers

Good advice from Luxo there.
Also, does the engine management warning light come on when you switch on and then go straight off when you start the engine? If not then I reckon that someone has removed the bulb. The hunting idle is caused by the ECU getting trying to correct what it sees as a fuel mixture problem. This may be down to a faulty sensor - it's the front O2 sensor which is in the exhaust down-pipe. It may indeed be down to a vacuum leak somewhere on the intake side, or it may be down to the bad plugs you've found causing a misfire, which the causes the O2 sensor signal to be confused by the unburnt fuel in the exhaust. You need to get to the bottom of this because a bad misfire can destroy the cat in short order. It could be a faulty coil pack on one cylinder too. Checking earth connections and a new set of spark plugs seems to be a good place to start I reckon. Jack |
