So it was just a coincidence about noticing the rev counter misbehaving and fitting the voltmeter; in that case re-fitting the voltmeter should be straightforward. I think Volvo recommended fitting the sensor wire for the voltmeter direct to a spare fuse on the board (I mentioned which one somewhere above). Stay alert, Alan |

well you could take it all apart and find the actual fault but the earthing trick does fix it .
