The E10 thing has been around a while. Germany has had E10 pumps for nearly 10 years. It still has E5 as well, though.

As far as I can see, no car made after 2011 should have a problem. https://www.acea.be/publications/art...atibility-list

Huffing meths tends to addle the brain I think. My mum used to clean her feet in it whilst watching tv. Pretty weird.

Since Nectar points disappeared from BP to Esso, it seems Esso are supplying Sainsburys and my economy dropped horrendously to 14mpg!

A few fill ups on BP and i'm back up to about 20-23mpg, not quite got there yet as there will still be a small amount of Esso/Sainsburys in the tank but it's getting better. It always used to do 25-26mpg on my normal running but one thing that has improved is there is less steam out of the tailpipes when cold!
Looking at Mr Meths' car history:

2017-2018: 2199

2018-2019: 3246

2019-2020: 1958

So the car stands around a heckuva lot. Also it failed the MOT in 2017 on a fuel tank leak so there's that.

My car sits around too but not quite that much (about 4-5k a year), and lots of short trips results in the mpg going down. Then when I use it more and go further afield giving it a run, the mpg goes up. COINCIDENCE?!?

Also, why would changing fuel brands result in 'less steam'? I can only percobulate as I don't have a science degree, but perhaps using a car more frequently results in the exhaust system being cleared of condensation?
