Light sensor.
Have noticed that light sensor appear to turn on lights well before other cars.
Tend to run with auto light switch off. Did not do this when car was new. With reduced running seems to annoy drivers in front in normal winter daylight. Is there a sensor somewhere that can be cleaned? |

How do you know it annoys the drivers in front? If you know this 100% then perhaps your beam alignment needs checking?

Seems logical that the City Safe windows contain the sensor but the screen looks clean and is washed by screen washer. Have noticed on service they remove mirror and clean hidden screen area. Perhaps my sensor is faulty I will get it checked on next service.

[/QUOTE] My headlights (dipped) are on from the moment I turn the key on to the time I turn the key off, I have never had anyone show any annoyance summer or winter. As the light alignment is checked at your annual MoT , I can only assume those around you are just a tad temperamental. |

I thought the sensor was on the dash where the alarm LED is. Pretty sure I've read it on here before.
Can't the life of me think how with correctly adjusted lights it would annoy other road users. Aren't Motorbikes encouraged to run with lights on ?

This is ringing a bell with me now that you've mentioned it. I believe a guy had bought a dash cover, and subsequently discovered, thanks to advice on here, that he had covered the sensor.

Car had first MOT in March no issues. Lights are fine. When you are driving in slow traffic with good daylight headlights going on and off causes concern. I will check area around alarm led. Thanks for that suggestion.

A little confused as to why your headlights would go on and off in slow traffic. Even with stop/start, the lights stay illuminated. |

XC60 Presumably picking up small variation in light levels. Suggests to me sensor is dirty or faulty.
