Vida
Please can anyone help me ?
I sent my BCM to Volvo Diagnostics on the 5th of this month and Royal Mail still haven’t delivered it, know they are having COVID issues but really? Bless the lads they have organised a replacement for me and are coding it best they can, but I have been informed by them it will need a scan from a Vida so the newer BCM can learn my car so the stability program will work or something. BCM will hopefully be back in the car by Saturday? I live in North Wales but can travel within the rules for the help if anyone can ? |

It could well be that it wouldn't be within in the rules regardless, seeing as they wouldn't be within your support bubble and it not being classed as one of the few reasons you're allowed to travel "locally", Shopping, Medicinal, exercise and work. Lockdown is a major pain to us all but it is a must for the safety of all.

Personally, I interpret it to mean that since it's not the BCM which was originally fitted to your vehicle, it could have different firmware/software versions which need to be updated in order to be compatible with the revisions present in your car's other relevant modules. IF that's the case (i.e. a software download and update), then only a registered copy of VIDA can do that, which basically means using a Volvo franchised dealer or well-equipped independent.

I'm totally with Bashy, at the moment it is exactly that kind of meeting, that should be avoided. That's why I'd like to raise the question, if it wouldn't be better to buy a DICE/VCX? I mean, it's around GBP100, that seems like a bargain. You wouldn't have to pay for the fuel (to drive to whomever), the small donation....you get the idea. And it is an investment into the future of this and all other Volvos.
I understand the comment from Volvo Diagnostics in that way, that a callibration has to be done. If my memory serves me right, that would be the case for a newly fitted BCM. But I'm not sure at all! That would mean, the "community VIDA" would be enough. A software reload isn't necessary, if you only need to calibrate the BCM (sensors). But as I said, I'm not a hundred per cent sure! Best would be to try, if calibrating is enough...

Thanks for your reply’s appreciate the comments, but luckily there is some one looking over my Volvo as the BCM arrived today 🥳🥳, so the lads have completed a Heath check and I’ll have it back tomorrow 🥃🥃🥃.
Now remains the see if the other problems will go away with the fitting of other parts while waiting. Thanks again |
