Lesson learnt !!
Steve AKA St Evelyn kindly sent me 2012 dvd's which I had a code for which i was entitled to when going to Volvo Code page, the 2012 maps are fairly up to date. To be honest I found the Volvo Sat Nav pretty crap so I either use Google Maps in conjunction with CamSam Plus which is a speed camera warning app. So don't waist your money and time updating to the current version, I've spent hours and hours off time talking to Volvo Dealers trying to sort this out only to find that I'll have to stump up £200 give or take for a 1 off update, RIPPOFF,

Cheers

It will list the map dvd sets which you're are entitled to use, so if 2014 dvd set is not listed you'll need to contact your Volvo dealer for a code, I'm going through thus hassle myself and still haven't been able to update my 2011 V60 which has 2010 maps. I'm entitled to 2012 maps 31358423 AA which I can't get because the 31358423 AA is not available to purchase from Volvo anywhere.
I'm in the same boat

The Sensus (non-Connect) cars require an activation code. Nav only works with the 7" screen.

Older <2010 cars just need DVDs, which can be copied and shared freely (no code). Sensus cars need a set of DVDs with activation codes. Sensus Connect have 10 years of free updates, downloaded on a USB stick (no code).

It is true that pre 2010 Volvo navigation software is freely available, and that the 2013 onwards Sensus systems get free updates on a USB stick, but the early V60s (between 2010 and 2013) have a HDD navigation system that needs a set of disks that cost over £200.

If you registered with Volvo Mapcare within the first 3 months from new, the car was entitled to free upgrades for the first 3 years. Otherwise you had to buy the disks and a unique activation code for over £200.

I bought my V60 as a used "Volvo Select" vehicle and when I tried to update my maps I was told it hadn't been registered for Mapcare and therefore I wasn't entitled to free map updates. My dealership couldn't help me either and were only interested in selling me the disks.

It seems that other owners have had more success in obtaining maps so it may be that Volvo have now relaxed their rules. Unfortunately, in my case I had to cough up.

What hurts most is the maps I bought aren't all that up to date. The speed limits are often wrong and some roads that have been built in the last two years aren't shown on the maps. My wife's Tomtom is far more up to date.
