I thought I was doing what someone explained would reduce waxing, which was prevalent then, but I didn't realise the risks of over doping the fuel. If you are feeling nervous, stick in the 2-stroke oil to lubricate the pump until you can get the fuel back to normal.
I want to re-evaluate on my statement about putting 2 stroke oil in diesel to increase its lubricity. I have just read a South African fuel study on the addition of 2 stroke oil to diesel and it debunks this practice. http://www.fuelexpert.co.za/2-stroke...ical-study.php Whether adding extra oil to a tank of diesel that has been contaminated with petrol may be another matter but using this procedure in the hope of improving your regular fuel seems to be an old wives tale.

That's the study done with synthetic oil you have to use mineral oil for it to work that's why!

I started using two stroke oil after putting petrol in by mistake some years ago. Always use it ,still do 200:1 at every refill. As jeffmason says you MUST use mineral based ,low ash self mixing . You won't get any more miles per gallon ,well not noticeable ,but engine will be quieter and smoother with better pick up. There was a conflicting report on the web that I can't seem to find now . The gist of it was both VW and MB tested diesels with two stroke . They found that emissions and particulates were greatly reduced and no harm was done even if the fuel was severely overdosed with 2s.

I didn't understand the significance of the JASO FC specification and the South Africans didn't actually say the oil was synthetic. However, now I do understand that FC is synthetic while FB is mineral. So we are back to where we started because the South Africans didn't understand the significance of the difference between the two types of 2 stroke oil!
