Default No AM radio - v70 2008

Hi all,
I recently purchased a 2008 V70 with the high performance sound system.

Unfortunately there is no AM radio signal, FM is fine.
I know the normal problem is the CD player unit but this has been replaced and since tested (broken when bought it so had a new replacement fitted).

I understand the next culprit could be 1 of the 2 aerial amplifiers (1 in behind bumper and 1 in roof lining). Does anyone have an idea which it could be and the part numbers?
I don't wanna have roof lining out to then find out it's the bumper or vice versa. Can order part in advance too.

Thanks
Ben

If there is no sound at all even at Max volume it is the IAM ( or radio/Cd) which has an internal fault . If you get some kind of noise it could be the aerial side of it .

Thanks for the help! Good job I didn't start pulling out the roof lining! Ha ha

The ICM was broken when I bought the car so had it replaced. The same Volvo specialist then tested it later when I told them I had no AM and confirmed it was fine and suggested maybe an aerial but not sure without investigating further.

So based on your points it sounds like I need a new IAM.
If I am correct that is he CD player part that sits behind the screen?
Does the car need programming or can I just swap it out and go? (Be great if I can pick 1 up on eBay to fit myself and avoid garage fees)

Thanks again
Ben

Yes the IAM has the CD Player in it .. a new IAM will need software to configure it to the car , I think it runs for about 10 seconds before it shuts down otherwise . a used one will do this too .
Do you really need AM ? If you bought a Pure Highway 4000 and add it you would get all the DAB stations , USB music input , i-pod interface and AUX input . for 1/4 the cost of a new IAM .

Thanks for the confirmation, I have the factory parrot phone kit installed already but will look to see if I can swap it out. It has been wired in through the dash so could be a pain. I may check price to sort software on IAM via local indi Volvo place then go with whichever is the cheapest option.
