That's good to know. I see your point about about PTFE tape, but felt I should report it as a possible solution to the squeaking. I will try copper grease next time I fit some and see how that goes! Good shout.

It's been my experience that poly bushes have their place to stiffen suspension and reduce play in mountings but this tends to be at the expense of comfort and sometimes longevity of the bush. They are great for track cars needing very tight suspension and travelling very little mileage. The thing to be borne in mind before fitting them is that the OEM components will have been subject to a great deal of testing and development to meet the perceived needs of the car and the use to which it will be put. Aftermarket bushes may not have been tested on the cars for which they are provided and the way they perform may be limited by the expertise of the manufacturer. That is not to say that some poly bushes are not better than others. However there is often a price to pay in terms of harsh ride, short life or noisy operation. In the past I have used poly bushes for suspension and engine mounting and while I enjoyed some of the improvements which they gave, ultimately I drifted back to the OEM bushes in most of the uses. I suffered failed suspension bushes leading to extremely noisy suspension over rough road surfaces and unwanted engine vibration entering the cabin and making driving long distances uncomfortable. On a track I'd have put up with it for the sake of performance but on the road I tired of the downsides and removed all but one small lateral engine mount. My advice, for what it's worth, would be not to use poly bushes unless you are dissatisfied with the suspension performance of your car to the point where you feel that either you change the suspension or you change the car.

I presume these polybushes will need to be pressed in? I imagine it'd be quite a hard task without the correct equipment.

The genuine Volvo bushes are very expensive and I'm thinking this is Mondeo rear suspension so has anyone here fitted genuine Ford bushes, like these :

Pressing the poly bushes in is relatively easy - they come with silicon grease and I did mine using my (admittedly beefy) record vice.

Re the Ford polybushes - I would/will definitely these as they are the same as the Volvo ones, but much cheaper! The only snag is that some of the Volvo ones use an extended T-piece as an exhaust hanger. There is a good article elsewhere in this forum that shows how to get round that problem.

You fitted the poly bushes with the arms in situ - just pulled the down SIMBOC ?
