Hi All

I bought a V70 se (2010) yesterday. I gather the phone connection(Bluetooth) this works great however when connecting my phone (via usb) says not readable?

I listen to alot of podcasts sword love to resolve this. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong

Thanks in advance

I think the USB doesn't support phone connection. See page 227 of the Owners Handbook https://volvornt.harte-hanks.com/man...ers-Manual.pdf

Thought it would. Is there any way around it? Such as via Bluetooth?

I can only speak for my 2012 XC70 which has a very good built in Bluetooth system for mobile phones. I don't know what the earlier cars had. What does your handbook say?

My 2011 MY2012 doesn’t allow phone connection though usb, the option is for iPod and it says it unreadable if I try connecting an iPhone to it. The Bluetooth works brilliantly with the phone and it allows me to call from the car Using the in built mic and car speakers. so I just stream music that way. I can’t say if android will work but I’d guess not. I can charge my phone with the usb socket so that’s something i guess. If you have AUX should be next to the USB then you can connect your phone to that, you may not have a headphone jack so you’ll need an adapter for it and your phone will send it’s sounds into the car speakers but I can’t say if this will work for phone calls. I use the Bluetooth as it works faultless with both our phones! Press the media button and select Bluetooth then it will connect to your phone and on the car screen it will say ‘streaming’ then you can play whatever you like

Default USB Unreadable

Alex
Further to your last, MY2017 XC60 has suddenly decided that my iPhone SE is unreadable. Up until recently it would pick up music albums artists, tracks and playlists using the Lightning cable from the USB, as well as bluetoothing the phone calls. Now it won't read the phone despite replacing the cable, or an iPod that previously worked with the car. The bluetooth for the phone still works.
I know the car won't read Apple's music format if I try to transfer the music to the car's HDD but it has worked perfectly using the iPhone. I wonder if its a s/w issue with the car?

I think you need a Bluetooth Aux Adapter. This plugs into the USB socket in the centre console for charging, and has a 3.5mm jack plug that goes into the AUX socket in the same location. Pair your phone to it and it will stream audio to AUX. Just select AUX as the input source on the head unit.

My 2011 model (old style centre console, with pop up sat nav) has Bluetooth and usb. I can connect my iPhone to the stereo fine and can drive the phone using the steering wheel controls to play music, podcasts etcI believe Android is not so successful. What type of phone is it? I think iPhone works but android doesn’t.

Ps, I just use a standard Apple usb lightning lead, no special converters required.
