Help diagnose my ECM / cooling fan faults.
Hi can anyone please help me with my 2012 C30 R-Design 2.0l Petrol.
It overheated during that hot spell we had in September with the AC on, realised the cooling fan was no longer spinning. I let it cool off and replaced the coolant, etc. (used my other car until today.) Scanned it with VIDA and these are the codes: ECM-1461 A/C pressure sensor Signal too high ECM-1585 Throttle Control Malfunction ECM-2121 Accelerator pedal sensor, circuit 1 faulty ECM-0480 Engine cooling fan (FC) Faulty signal ECM-D900 Control module communication Faulty communication Replaced cooling fan with second hand Replaced Coolant temp sensor with new Drained AC refrigerant (professionally) Cleared codes and rescanned it and they have come back and cooling fan does not spin. Checked harness at fan connection with multi-meter and reads 5v (iirc) when ignition on but when engine running voltage is zero. Fan never spins. Is my ECM corrupt? or could my sensors have failed ie AC pressure sensor, accelerator pedal sensor.. (sometimes feels like a lag under acceleration??) I will now have to check compression as well Thanks in advance |

UPDATE: For anyone interested or this helps anyone in the future, I solved this issue!
The AC compressor has what looks like an old belt wedged in the pulley making the compressor spin regardless of if the AC relay is on or not. From what I have found out the cooling fan only comes on at high high temps or if the AC (relay) is turned on. My fan was broken so it would never come on. Used VIDA activations to turn on new fan. I replaced the cooling fan and took the belt off the AC compressor (for now) Erased the codes and now there are no codes. I will replace the compressor in the future. Cylinder compression was good. 👍 |
