Tha car is great but.............every time it rains I end up with an inch of water in the drivers footwell. The passenger side stays dry but the drivers side is soaked . Can anbody help please , i cant see any obvious drain holes and dont really know where else to look .
Any help or advise would be gratefully recieved .

I have only owned my V50 for a few weeks so i can only offer you advise based on my old car, which suffered the same problem.

Check the seals around the door. Check them all the way round, as a split or weak point at the top, will allow water in and to run down the sill into the footwell.
Check around the top of the bonnet. Check for any foliage build up or blockages.
Check the pollen filter. ( i dont know where this is on the V50). on my old car, if this wasnt quite fitted properly, it allowed water through.

Let us know if you find anything.

Thanks for response guys . I have checked the door seals and they seem fine . The water seems to be coming from somewhere above the pedals (up under the dash somewhere) . I am having to leave an old paint tray on the floor as I am fed up with constantly drying the carpets out everytime it rains . Any more ideas out there ?

if the car has a sunroof there are modified drain grommets that fit at the corners of the dash, these can block and cause a leak.

if no sunroof possibly the winsdscreen is leaking, especially if its had a replacement, the screen should say volvo on it.

The car does have a sunroof , i dont really use it. Do you think this could cause water in the footwell , wouldnt it wet the sets as well ?

I had a similar prob in my V70, where leaves had clogged up both drains running from the bottom of the windscreen down thru the engine bay. When they overflowed, I ended up with an inch or so water in the driver's footwell. It's worth having a look.

Water that hits the windscreen will usually run down the screen & towards the base of the wipers. This will funnel into two drains where the excess water will run down & out below the engine. On my V70 these were clogged up with leaves & the water overflowed everytime it rained. All cars should have them. When you find them, pour some water thru them. It should come out pretty fast if it's not clogged up.

Hi,the seal around the sunroof when closed is not water tight so a small amount of rain drops into the sunroof tray and this is drained of in each corner,if the grommets block that go through the body it can back up the water in the tray and tubes and cause a leak behind the A pillar trims, also the grommets are modified to stop rain being drawn in under the firewall area at speed.if this is the fault there very difficult to get to,a dealer job.
