I used to deliver lengths of steel pipe to them which is how I knew of them and had several chats with them, whilst the obvious use of their services was the lads wanting bigger pipes for performance cars they quite often had older cars (even a vintage one as I recall) in for 'custom' exhausts as they were no longer available off the shelf, or ordinary cars for stainless exhausts rather where only mild steel was available stock.

But if Thekilt is right about the ST muffler that would seem a good way to go that may even be available via a local exhaust fitter, I did in the past own a VW Passat which was fitted with what was listed as an Audi exhaust, no idea why possibly just what original/previous fitter put his hand on first.
Thanks Dave, I got details of my local Ford dealer and saw that they have a tie in with Mountune who look like they are an exhaust specialist. Have you heard of them? Ian

All I remember is when I was under the car checking the back box, it had the “fomoco” logo on it. Whether it’s exactly the same I’m not sure, but I wouldn’t of expected Ford to make a specialist one for Volvo cars.

When I had the car I was looking at changing, and the stainless custom fab route was the cheaper option to be honest. But I didn’t want something sounding obnoxious like the boy racers so would have gone for at least 3 silencers on a 2.5” or maybe with a 3”.

Thanks, I will give it a go. Ian

Thanks, it looks like I will go to an exhaust specialist, another poster has given me a link that is close to me which I will try. Ian

I'm not that into tuning etc to know brands etc, but they seem to have a relationship with Ford which would be a recommendation. Looking through the other replies I'd be inclined to start by having a good talk with the Fife Autocentre that HDAV suggested, looking at their website whilst they are able to do the 'performance/noise' type they also say they can build to suit what the customer wants so nearer to a standard exhaust.

Hi Dave, the suggestion of HDAV & you definitely seems like the way forward, thanks to you both and all other posters for their help with this. Ian
