It does indeed look like we have two different types of blades. I have an XC90 with heated washers and jets on the arms. Which are often mistaken for or referred to as aqua blades. I have to apologise for my mistake and any confusion.

Just had a look on Volvo's website and the Aqua Blades (not one word) are indeed heated. Presumably the heating element runs for most or all of the length of the blade inside the rubber.

I can't see these being cheap, not just because of the extra manufacturing cost but also because it allows Valeo or Volvo to charge whatever they like.

Not sure it's environmentally friendly either to throw away a heating element and electrical connector every time you change the blades.

According to the XC60 MY19 brochure, Aqua Heated blades are on the 3 Pro variants, (Momentum, Inscription & R-Design) and the Winter pack.
Not seemingly available as an individual option.

Unfortunately not, although it is in some other countries such as The Netherlands.

Very cold this am. Minus 4 or 5

The windscreen washer is frozen. (No fluid coming out). Even after remote start and driving for about 25 minutes

I thought the entire point of the heated system in the Pro is to prevent freezing.

Can anyone explain if this is expected or faulty?

Well.. no.. It's heated nozzles- not heated washer container.. Having the winter pack doesn't mean you can use the summer washer fluid year round..

Are you diluting the fluid or using it neat? Despite what it says on the bottle, the freezing point is higher when it's neat as opposed to diluted 75:25 with water.

But bloke69 didn't say he was using summer washer fluid, or a highly diluted mix.

However, you are correct, it may well be that the nozzles are heated, but there is a frozen blockage further back in the system if the fluid in the reservoir isn't suitable for the temperatures.

Bloke69, I try to ensure the washer fluid I pop in is a high enough concentrate for the weather ahead, and have never had a problem, washer fluid always comes out immediately.

Mine are working well on my S90, however I did find that when you squirt 2 to 3 times the water will never run on the passenger side window. On the drivers side I had the misfortune of having the window open and I got covered in screen wash. Only ever happens on the drivers window.

Yes, I have a approximately a 2.5:1 ratio (more screenwash)

Repeated activation of the washer did nothing

Actually This
