This popular meet has been scheduled for later on this year...it's a long way off may change in the meantime BUT this is what I know for now:
Meeting Number 15 Sunday 9th October VT and VEC team up for the Northern Day Meet. Your chance to drive in convoy through some stunning Lake District scenery and up the Kirkstone Pass….a test for any manual or automatic transmission. Pub meal to finish the day. It’s another VT exclusive so keep watching for more detail. Location: The Rheged Centre, Redhills, Penrith, Cumbria CA11 0DQ I'll post further details as they come in Attention all Volvo Owners.... your support is urgently required. On Sunday 9th October, we will be meeting for our last driving day out of the 2016 session. Please could we ask for the support of as many team members as we can gather as we wish to beat our Volvo drive by record set last year of 20 Volvo cars in a row and two HF Volvo trucks on the rear of the convoy. https://youtu.be/Y7xhj25vzCU We will be buying you guys a complementary ice cream, or cup of brown liquid or a Twix at our first stopping point as a bribe....errr...I mean thank you for coming along So here is the details of the 2016 Rheged meeting. We will be meeting at the Rheged Discovery Centre, just off the M6 (Junction 40) Penrith, Cumbria at 11.30am Sunday 9th October. Postcode is CA11 0DQ. We will then take a short drive to the Abbott Lodge Jersey Ice Cream Farm, off the A1, which was very popular venue last year, for the customary and complimentary tea/coffee and a chance to meet other enthusiasts and catch up on all things Volvo. This will be followed by a group drive through the beautiful Lake District, including driving over legionary 'Shap' on the A1 (renowned Winter problem area before the building of the M6 Motorway) and other scenic roads through Cumbria, ending at a hostelry for a late pub lunch.....which you will need to buy....good god we turned VT's sofa upside down to find the money for ice cream Last edited by tt82; Sep 28th, 2016 at 09:09. |

Oh man this sounds like a great day out! I really hope my 360 is done by then, just need to finish rust repairs to the drivers inner sill, weld on new outer sill, fabricate an inner arch, finish the front valence and fit my new brakes to the rear then bleed the brakes aaaaaand... Oh damn it is a lot to do lol.

Kirkstone Pass is lovely, however, if you're up that way Wrynose Pass and the connecting Hardknott Pass are much, much more of a test than Kirkstone.
