Default 940 losing water all the time

Hi
We have a 1997 940 estate 2.3 LPT.
She was laid up during the winter after Id given up having fitted about the third water pump in a row.
However, I think I may have boobed in that I don't think I drained the system after the last go, and suspect that one (or maybe even more) of the core/freeze plugs may have blown.
The leak appears to be coming from the side of the block near the exhaust manifold.
(She was also blowing a little from the exhaust manifold and I was putting off having to do that job too, so maybe now's the time)
So the questions are these:
1. Anyone know how many plugs there are in this block?
2. Does one blown mean replacing them all?
3. Does one blown mean more than one is likely to have gone?
4 Is it possible to replace them without removing the engine?

Something in the back of my mind says there is a coolant pipe hidden behind the exhaust manifold that has a habit of corroding - the turbo owners will be able to tell you more. That would be my guess as to where the leak is from.

Did you not put antifreeze into the system when you changed the water pump?

Lasird is correct - the turbos DO have a water-cooled turbocharger, but I think it's a PITN to replace in situ unless you have access to a 3" tall mechanic.

The pipe from the back of the waterpump to the heater matrix is another possibility as it runs under the exhaust manifold.

It was the pipe from water pump to heater matrix i was thinking of, i'd forgotten about the water-cooled turbo!

Someone recently told me about a pattern replacement for that pipe and sent me a link for it, if i can find it i'll add it.

Default rubber hose

Theres a coolant hose just at the oil filter thats very hard to see and tend to go at the inside i replaced one a few weeks ago and when removed its a wonder it held on any coolant.

All i used for mine was some reinforced pipe as i needed the car and did not have a spare.

At the very least those coolant are on their last legs now anyway, so you could try changing them and see what happens.

Part numbers 9161383 and 9161384.

But if it is the core plugs, there are 4 on that side and they can be replaced without removing the block.
