Default Volvo 343 gl 5k mile stunning

1982

5400 miles

Mot till 20th September.

Totally original and immaculate. Unrestored.

I bought this car last year with 4k miles, it came up for sale and I liked the look of it so bought it blind from Southampton. I believe it was owned by an elderly gentleman who stopped driving not long after taking delivery of the car, but it was properly stored by the family for many years.

When it arrived I was blown away by the condition. It is stunning. No excuses, not immaculate "for a 36 year old car", no "but I just need to finish"....the car is the absolutely perfect example of a classic Volvo.

The paint is original and in perfect condition, it polishes into a deep shine. Underneath is as good as up top.

The interior is completely as new. The red is very different and has no wear anywhere. The original tape deck/radio is in perfect working order and comes with an original cassette head cleaner. All lights/heaters/fans/speedo/clock etc etc works perfectly.

I replaced the tyres from a safety point of view but kept the originals.

When the car arrived I gave it to Andy at Dixon motors (Volvo specialist) to service. He changed all fluids including gearbox oil, full service including plug leads, distributer cap, rotor arm etc. I can provide his number for interested parties for a second appraisal on the cars condition.

The car drives as it would have done in 1982, seats are comfortable, plenty of punch from the 1.4 and it runs/idles etc perfectly.

I've done about 1000 miles in it, will be sad to see it go but garage space is of the essence and I have other Volvos that I have more historical attachment to so the 343 realistically is the one to go. No offers silly offers, this is the sort of thing would be advertised at a fortune at a specialist, I believe it to be the best, lowest mile example in the uk.

I'm in Belfast, 20 mins from the airport or docks. If anyone was driving the car back I would have no hesitation undertaking a long trip, alternatively transport companies charge £3-400 for mainland transport with roughly 7 day turnaround.

You'd think the markup would allow for a decent photographer that doesn't overexpose all of the images.

May I ask, what it went for on KGF site? I see listings for low mileage cars from them a fair bit and the prices are quite shocking usually. Hope it's in good hands now.

It was up for £3999 for quite some time. I suspect it must have gone for the asking pice minus 20% at the very least.

Wow, that's good money but still nothing for a survivor in that condition really... I wonder what an equivalent Mk3 Escort or Mk1 Golf would have made?
