Default XC70 T6 - polestar tune - dyno graph

Hello everyone,

I am happy owner of 2014 XC70 T6 (305hp), after a few months of usage I thought it's a good idea to get a Polestar tune, due to optimized gearbox settings & slightly more power.

To be sure I am getting what I am paying for, I made a 'pre' and 'post' dyno runs, to see the real power gains on the graph. The particular dyno I chose is known for respectable and repeatable results, not far from real numbers.

The first dyno run, with OEM (?) Volvo tune shown more than I expected - ~325HP, with peak torque ~460-470nm between 2100 and 4200 rpm.

After the POLESTAR flash (made by Volvo dealer) I see LOWER HP numbers - 310HP, with quite high torque numbers (~520nm) between 2200 and 3800 rpm.

For details, please see the attached graph (first run (with higher HP) is marked with thinner lines).

So it seems I paid 700 pounds for .. less peak power.

Is there anyone with T6 engine (305hp) able to provide graphs from a dyno run? Both original and Polestar optimized runs would be interesting.

To sum my experience - 'original' tune provided more power than it should, when Polestar tune now provides LESS power than it should. Something is wrong, I just can not figure that .

As for turbo pressure figures - after the polestar reflash, I see ~17PSI during lower RPM, after 4k it drops down to 12PSI. Which seems to be reason for lower high RPM power.

Original owner says there were no changes to the ECU made by him. Also Volvo confirmed there was not alternate ECU prior to their Polestar upgrade I requested.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

jiri

PS: both runs were on high octane fuel.

Maybe the previous owner didn't know about an earlier remap?

Yes, that is definitely an option. I am the third owner, second owner in CZ, the first owner was in Italy, so..may be the case.

Anyway, I am confused with the numbers I get after Polestar upgrade.

Torque is much higher than it should be, peak power is lower..

I will try to track the original owner and ask him on upgrades made by him.

Not unusual for an engine to produce more power than the manufacturer's spec... and not unusual for a Dyno to give a high/inaccurate value for flywheel power. But a positive difference should still be demonstrated.

The new torque curve drops off more as the revs rise, in simple terms that's why the peak power is down.
