Volvo V70 SE T5 Auto For Sale

I have a 1998 Volvo V70 T5 Auto in black with 270k miles. I am a trader based in North Devon and bought this from the auctions. It is a Volvo main dealer part exchange from the owner who had owned it since 2003. It has 28 volvo service stamps, last done end of January this year. Mot until mid August. Overall it is in great condition, I have driven it the past 200 miles and it drives exactly how it should. Fairly new tyres all around, you can tell its been looked after by a main dealer its whole life.

There are a couple areas that need some minor attention. The headlining has come loose above the windscreen. The rear bootseal has come away from the bodywork. Obviously some marks around the car but nothing awful.

I would rather sell it to someone who knows exactly what they are. I can get photos uploaded later on. I am after £1995 for it which I think is fair. Any questions please let me know.

Can't but help feel a 270k automatic T-5 is a fairly hard sell these days... more so at a couple of grand. I think a good clean and removing the bit about you be a trader and buying from the auctions might help! That just reeks of "I paid £400 for this and looking for a nice flip"

The above comment was both unnecessary and more than a little unfair to the O.P., 'Turbodave'. I applaud the chap for his refreshing honesty; any prospective purchaser would know immediately exactly where they stand.

That car may have done twice the mileage of my V reg poverty spec snail (to quote another poster) but it looks to be in better nick both bodily and internally. We all know that these cars are well capable of much greater mileages than this if well maintained and this one has, as the O.P. noted, clearly been well cared for.

Isn't the T5 considered by most to be one of the more desirable variants (hence the premium) and some actually prefer autos to manuals. It doesn't really matter what he paid for the car; it's more to do with whether the purchaser feels that he has made a deal acceptable to him.

If I was in the market for such a car, I would have no hesitation in giving this example serious consideration. I have no knowledge of or connection with the O.P., but I do like to see fair play.

But this a £400 car..I bought a similar one of Market place a few weeks ago for similar money.

Autobox is in gods waiting room at that mileage unless it’s been replaced along the way.

Looking at the MOT history doesn't read that it is well looked after - some of the fails just smack of serious neglect, given that it has been serviced at a Volvo dealer.

Two folks needed to open the fuel filler flap, tyres worn to the point of showing the cords, horn not working. These are fails that are a lack of even the most basic of care and cost nothing apart from a few minutes to check before submitting for an mot.

I would just like to clarify to everyone that there is no such thing as a £400 car at the auction these days, maybe a non-runner. Anything worth looking at is a minimum £750 plus fees.

If you have bought a car with over 6 months MOT and having just been serviced on marketplace for £400 then that's well done to you. But I doubt you would sell that again on for £400 if you wanted to sell?

I am open to offers, I personally believe that a car that is well serviced it's whole life is better than a car that has patchy servicing with half the miles. Look at the bright green coolant, the genuine Volvo battery. It's previous owner wasn't afraid to spend money on it. I took the photos in its current condition because I believed tarting it up may look like it's trying to hide something, this is how I collected it.

You're saying that tyres, a faulty fuel flap and a broken horn are bad MOT fails? I agree showing cords, but if they were on the inner edge an elderly person wouldn't be able to notice them. I think you would understand that people that use main dealers for a car this age wouldn't know how to do basic maintenance on a car. Hence still taking it to Volvo.
