Default What engine and box do I have

I have an H reg(no cat.) 740 2.3 manual estate that I am now in love with again and I would like to know engine and gearbox type. The label is missing from the timing cover. Bob12 of this parish gave me an explanation of the Vin number on another thread but it doesnot appear to completely relate to the number on the car. The number that I have is as follow: YV1745842L1303295. I understand from another source that I have a M46 o/d box but this is not clear from the vin. Whilst we are at it could someone explain what a face lift model is as I need to replace the front side light lens as the present one, purchased new from a dealer doesnot fit. All the above is so that I can bring the car properly up to scratch.
Thanks for you help

Going by the above its a B230E with an M46 Box unless the engine has been swapped?

YV1745842L1303295.

YV1 = Sweden Volvo passenger car
745 = model
84 = B23E or B230E
2 = M46
L = model year 1990
1 = manufacturer's plant Torslanda, Sweden
303295 = unique chassis number

.. and attached is a pic of a facelift ... with the old side lights, and too long headlight wiper blades still fitted

Down to me then I think Wrinkles ( I will PM you if I can and arrange a meet at Stretton) you realise that all this fuss is your fault , had you not said what great door cards and dash I had got I would have run it into the ground and scrapped it when it next stopped. I have now become a bit
of a fanatic and I am going to change everything for new. Just got MOT and done the cambelt, I am going to change all the discs next, and possibly the clutch. I am lucky as my son is the manager of the local K*** F**(sorry) and I can use their ramps etc. I have even polished it !!!!!! Thanks to all for their help
