In my experience, first and most obvious point to check is the abs rings.
Ideally, get the codes read, this will tell you where problem is. These rings are toothed wheels behind the disks, and are exposed to the elements. They rust and crack. Pretty obvious when you look at them. Not a major job but before anything, get the error code read. Hope this helps. John l |

When you say 'the yellow light' do you mean the yellow triangle? It is only a MIL(Malfunction Indication Lamp) that is a failure. The text message and the yellow triangle are not MOT failures. I have successfully pointed this out in the past to MOT stations and they have very quickly(almost as if they knew in the first place) reversed their decision.

The MOT manual states: "The dashboard warning lamp for these systems might take various forms and you should only fail a vehicle if you’re certain that the warning lamp is indicating an ESC malfunction. You might need to check the owner’s handbook." https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-insp...ther-equipment and the owners handbook ( I took 2012 as a middle of the road ) states on page 152: "ANTI-SKID SERVICE REQUIRED: system disabled due to a fault." https://az685612.vo.msecnd.net/pdfs/...EN_tp14152.pdf |

Afternoon , Firstly you need a code read performed on your car . It is pointless guessing what has / may have caused the problem . The most likely cause is the steering angle sensor and/or the clock spring .
A written message within the instruments is an advisory device & not covered by the MOT manual , HOWEVER if it should also illuminate either the ABS or indicate a fault occurring with the DSTC , FAIL . A constantly illuminated symbol of the car with wavy lines behind it & that's a fail

Yes rxtian it's confusing. Old link to another forum below which gives some good quotes and info and to a gov link- but gov link dead now.
https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/threads/...essage.150600/ Your quote also indicates that the lamp has to indicate a malfunction(MIL(Malfunction Indication Lamp). So a 'service' message/warning triangle is not a reason for failure. If a system is disabled, as in your second quote, then that is definitely a malfunction and not just a service message, and you would fail the MOT. I used this information in 2015 and got my MOT pass. I don't think the MOT has changed around these issues since then but I may be wrong. |

So I thought I would tackle this today !
My steering wheel was a fair way off centre so I decided to jack the car up and adjust the track rod ends, took it for a test drive and it was a lot better and the anti skid service warning had changed to anti skid temporarily off, so back home for another tweak Low and behold after a 10 minute drive the warning was gone and my dsct is now saying on ! Quite chuffed with myself actually 😆 |

You only just thought this was relevant to include?
How did your tracking get so out of whack in the first place?
