Nice one cheers mate. Now I've just gotta find a nice (read: cheap) gauge, hopefully one that's in fitting with the rest of the gauges on the dash.

Plenty of them about mate, the cheaper ones are generally not mega accurate but if you are using it for an indication rather than fine tuning then they are not too bad over all.
You'll find one that suits I am sure

You know whether the TIM gauges are any good? Seen one cheap, don't have loads of money to play with at minute what with repair bills etc, but I'd prefer to have a semi-decent gauge rather than a shoddy one!

They are not too bad mate, not exactly mega accurate, but more than enough I should think for general applications.
Only thing you need to decide for yourself is PSI or BAR that you want the display in

Well, I've had a bit more chance to play around in it, 1st and 2nd are still pulling hard as ever, but 3rd and above seem a bit flat, before I bought it I went out in one that was misfiring and hesitating all over the spot and it's not like that, but it's not pulling like it should. Does it still sound like a boost leak? Tempted to try new plugs (although the current ones been in around 10k) and coil packs, but don't want to be wasting money and not sorting the problem :/

Could well be mate, in first and second full boost is not likely to be reached whereas in 3rd and 4th you are more into the turbo range.....hard to test though without a boost gauge....I'll see if I can find an old one I had but never used, will be fine for testing

Yeah I was told once that they don't make full boost til 3rd and above. If you do have an old one I'll pay you, just don't want to be spending yet more money to not fix the problem, moneys a little tight after sorting cambelt and having it in for brakes and track rod ends in a few weeks to look forward to. Hope it is something simple though, I'd hate to be without it!

Gave it another bit of stick earlier and it seems flat from about 3k onwards (3rd gear), is this too early for any boost at all? Beginning to stress me out, seems to be getting worse every day, bad thing is passengers cant tell the difference but I know how quick it used to accelerate Hardly managed to overtake a biddy in an MG earlier it's that sluggish.

Thanks for looking mate, if you can't find it I'll bite the bullet and get a cheap one off ebay. Would I be able to tell from looking at the coilpacks/leads/spark plugs as to whether they could be the problem?

Plugs yes, the rest nope sadly (unless there is signs of corrosion for example on the leads). Thing with ignition is it doesn't give you sluggish performance that often, usually a jerky acceleration (almost like a misfire).
What fuel are you using? Are the plugs OEM or aftermarket? Has the car been remapped at all?
