V40 Marker Light
Does anybody have a bumper marker light for a Phase 1, ie 1997 V40 as the nearside rear one on mine has broken. Failing that, does anybody know of a bodge fix using an led perhaps. I know its a pain to remove, but leds last longer apparently.
Thanking you in anticipation |

They are sealed units so your best bet will be to buy a new unit. partsfor volvos sells them..

As above, PartsForVolvosOnline.com sell's the unit's, about 18quid inc delivery. Be careful changing them though, can be bit fidgety.

Marker light
Thanks for the reply regarding this. Have got one on the way from a breaker for £7 all in. Seems a bit ridiculous to just ditch the unit. Is there any way you can drill out the blown lamp and make do and mend it? Done the front ones before and know the rear ones are a pain in the neck.

Ive just repaired the front bumper marker light on mine, the led is held in place with sealant, All you do is dig the sealant out, pull out the defective bulb then replace with new led and reseal with silicon. Make sure you cut the wires near the unit when removing marker light to ensure enough wire is left to reconnect when re-fitting unit.

I'm quite lucky having the Ph2, remove lamp, twist clip, bulb holder comes out, replace bulb, reverse and done. upgraded mine to LED, was rather bright mind with clear marker lamps!

I just fixed two sealed units on a pre-2000 S40.
Simples - I cut the cable about 5cm from the unit, removed it, pull out the sealant type stuff, soldered a new bulb (3mm capless) onto the two diodes, re-sealed with £3.99 silicone sealant from homebase, left overnight to set and re-fitted the next day by reconnecting the wiring. Total labour time 20 minutes for two and around £6 including sealant. |

V40 marker light
Cheers for all your help. Now I know I can fix the faulty one sitting in the shed so shall sort out the sealant and the bulb and holder and give it a go.
