Sorry, I was talking about 940's as this was the subject of the original post. But you have made the good point of the 700's as well. I know that in the early 90's, 900-series (ie. early models) had the 4.10 diff for N/A red block autos. The same applied to 700-series at that time (ie. late models).

I also know that in the mid 80's, 700-series (ie. earlier models) had a 3.91 ratio for N/A red block autos and again 3.73 for turbo red block autos. What I don't know is the changeover year.

The only other variant that springs to mind that used this ratio is the 960 mk2 2.5 but this is obviously IRS. I'm not sure if the crown wheel and pinion are interchangeable between this type of diff and that for live axle. Over to you Dai......

I have a 4.1 from a mk2 960, the crown wheel will fit but I have a feeling the pinion might not be the same.

I will also have a 3.91 crown wheel and pinion
