Exclamation XC90 MY18 D5 Powerpluse replacement

Got first service done from Volvo dealer last Wednesday and on pick up I was told that Powerpulse need replacement (covered under guarantee so no charges). Neither the service dept bother to call nor replaced/repaired it while the car was at their premises.

I did ask the reception but she didn't know much. I was in rush as I wanted to get back home before I stuck in the rush hour traffic. Will speak to the dealer before I book my car or Power Pulse issue.

I got two questions: 1, if this has happened with others for MY18's and what exactly the Power Pulse issue was and what got changed/replaced. The car was picked up brand new in April 2017 and has done only 4700Miles.
2, Is there something I need to flag to the dealer when I take my car to fix the Powerpulse issue. Thanks.

First time I hear about a problem requiring replacement of PP.. As a matter of fact- don't remember ever hearing of any problems with PP.. And I am on several volvo forums, almost daily..

Keep us posted- I'd like to hear what happened..

There has been an issue on some cars with a power pulse pipe coming loose and leaking air, its only the pipe that gets replaced not the power pulse system, it is a well documented fault with a TJ.
I had my pipe replaced at my normal 12 month service, it is a precautionary change, not all cars had a problem, I had no problem with mine.
They also changed or added a EGR bracket at the same time which is another TJ. You should ask if your car needs this and if they are going to order the parts and do it at the same time.
My car is a 2017 MY.

I have MY17 bought new in March 2017 but have never had any notification re Powerpulse or other things. I also just had the 1st service done at the end of March. Is there somewhere you can check whether my car is affected.

My XC90 was delivered in june 2016, (2017 MY), best way to check if yours is effected is to ask your dealer service manager, also ask about the EGR bracket mod.

Mine's MY17. The pipe was replaced last November as a recall. It's just been in again this week to have the replacement hose replaced as it had a hole in it. When the engine started the compressor would run for approx 30 secs.

Spoke with a service team member and was told its a pipe replacement (although I have checked my VIN and no recall) and doesn't need EPG bracket change as some cars only need pipe replacement.

Drove to the dealer to get Powerpulse pipe replaced. handed over my car at 1030am at a prebooked appointment. I was told it will take between 1 to 1.30hrs. I asked them to also fix the left wing mirror issue (it doesn't come back to the adjusted preset spot). After 45mins one of the service guys said they had an issue as they don't have the pipe in stock . Obvious question I asked that when did you find about the stock and if you knew none in stock why you didn't you rang me in the morning and reschedule the appt. And, they couldn't fix the wing mirror issue.

Well I have now re-booked the appt for next week. The dealer guys will come to pick up the car from my home and get it back to me in the afternoon and will replace the powerpulse pipe and will fix the wing mirror issue.

Will update once both done.
