Default Windscreen replacement options

Has anyone managed to successfully have their v90 windscreen replaced by the likes of autoglass. I have a heated windscreen. Just got a massive star shaped chip from an oncoming car on a recently resurfaced road. I am very cross, firstly with the other speeding driver, but also that in this day and age a roads are still resurfaced by hosing down with tar and throwing loose chippings on it. But that's another story.

Am i likely to have hassles? My insurer, LV, likes to use autoglass. I cannot imagine them being able to recalibrate all the systems needed, but I am prepared to be amazed...

Hi Nick, Autoglass replaced the windscreen in my V90 a couple of years ago and recalibrated the various sensors all ok, I was more amazed when they replaced my sunroof after it was cracked by a stone, Volvo quoted two days in the workshop with a £2K cost, autoglass took 45 minutes, like you my insurance company is LV.

I was amazed at the professionalism of the Autoglass fitter when I had a screen in my Touareg 2 yrs ago. He had the kit, the knowledge and the care to do the job to my complete satisfaction. They may ask you to take it to a local(ish) Autoglass depot for the calibration though. Most depots closed a few years ago but they now seem to understand they require central ones for these increasingly complex calibrations (and could be liable if they are not done correctly)

Why are you angry with the other “speeding” driver. For having the nerve to drive on the same road as you? Judgement of speed is pretty difficult when they are coming towards you!

Save your anger for the nature of the road surface.

I’ve never had a problem with Autoglass.

Also insured with LV, Autoglass replaced the cracked windscreen on my XC60 a few weeks ago and did an excellent job.
