Essentially yes, it’s what the finance company will pay. You should assume it’s the value of the car. You *might* be able to sell if for more than that figure but it’s not guaranteed.

Those figures made me lean towards the volvo so i did my own configuration and i added the winter pack and tinted rear windows and tje finance said OFP £16543 for the volvo so now its not much different to the kia.

I dont belive this just did another confiuration and it now says OFP £20,114. I did exactly the same as what you did in the screen shot but i added a winter pack and the tinted window pack and that was it and i did £13500 deposit and i have two different OFP something must have gone wrong on one of them.

Just took a closer look at both qoutes and have found why there different tje one that says £20,114 has not got my annual mileage correct it says 8,000 but my annual mileage is 20,000 once i changed that it read 16k ofp like my first qoute. So there's now not much difference.

We bought a V60 2 years ago and like you had the money to buy outright.
However, we bought it on Volvo zero percent finance over 24 months. We did this because if you take out the Volvo finance (which was free, literally no charges, zero percent APR) then you get a deposit contribution from Volvo. Essentially you get an extra discount for taking out finance which costs you nothing. We have just made the last payment and cleared the finance. You could even let the finance run for maybe a month or two and then settle it early in entirity with no penalty, and you keep the deposit contribution. The post about the affinity is a good point. However, if you haven't got 3-6 months to wait then just price check on Drive the Deal and ask your dealer to match the price - most will. Whenever I check DTD is pretty close to affinity. I was looking at V90CC the other day and you can get 20% discount on DTD, 13% on an XC90. Haven't checked XC60 I am afraid....

Very interesting and good point , i have been thinking on if i should buy outright or go on a finance deal like you. Even though i have the money now to buy outright i wont once im ready to exchange and knowing I'll pay £41k to only sell for £16 roughly after 3yrs is hard to swallow. So have been thinking a finance deal might be better so that £16k can be used as deposit and i can still have new volvo every three yrs. |

I also went with a 0% Finance Deal with Volvo (over 3 years) with £1000 deposit contribution.
Through my affinity scheme, I was meant to get above plus free metallic paint, and a 7.5% discount. I ended up with closer to 10% discount. I also went with a 5 yr service package which was a no brainer for £599. I intend to keep the car for at least that long.

I paid £11k for a 7 year old Mercedes E320 with 68,000 miles on clock. Had it 3 years it's now done 105,000 and cost around £5k in maintenance, some of which is routine It's probably worth £4k - £6k. Would have cost original buyer £35-£40k. Still drives almost the same as when new, everything works fine. I use a local indipendent MB specialist have no reason to think they have ever ripped me off, done unneeded work, overcharged or been anything other than straightforward, in fact think franchised MB dealer would have done stuff over and above what was needed to no performance or reliability benefit. The result is I feel like I'm driving a £40k car but as it stands it's cost me £10k + fuel, insurance and tax. |
