Do I need special tools for this job and if so where can I get them?

do a quick search for vw t4 locking tools - should get you everything you need.
Read through all the posts on here - there are a few pertinent points to the job.. the bottom pulley is done up "red face tight" and then some. you'll want a water pump as well as the belts as it's driven by them. Check your "Harmonic balancer" on the bottom pulley - the ticking sound I thought was my vacuum pump turned out to be the pulley about to separate itself when I came to take it off... you'll also need to get it dynamically timed up when the jobs done which can be a little tricky. |
