Default Intermittent Cruise control

Hello,
Ive got Intermittent Cruise control. Works fine most of the time but goes off randomly.
Will try to clean the button in the steering with contact cleaner.

Can someone kindly give an advice how to remove the buttons only please. I don't want to break it by randomly prying it.

Thank you.

Check what your manual says about CC. My CC will automatically switch off if I apply the accelerator at a speed greater than the set speed, as its not being used. The car will bleep and speed set will go into brackets, with a message appearing on the dash.

Is this what you're experiencing?

Cruise control goes off when driving -Not exactly sure when applying brakes.
But I cannot abole to switch it back by using the buttons again.
Unless the car is stopped and started again.

Thank you.

Lightbulb Brake position sensor?

I would get the codes read on the brake pedal position sensor before pulling the steering wheel to bits unless it is obviously damaged.

This was causing the issue on mine as the cruise picks up signals from it I understand.
The part was about £150 fitted by main dealer, part alone was about £100.
Been fixed 8 weeks now and no problems at all.

I had a similar problem over 2 years ago.

Turned out the cruise control button on the steering wheel was faulty.

New button was £100- no problems since.

Best to codes read as already mentioned to try & pinpoint problem

Thank you Ifzal. I will read the code.
Ive googled and got this pic.

Iam not sure what kind of clip lies beneath it, to pry it open.
And I dont want to break it though......
I would like to give it a clean with contact cleaner.
If some one has removed it please advice how to proceed.
Thank you.

The code I read today was,

"ECM-9210 Cruise control. Faulty signal"

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition
A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the Control area network (CAN) communication between the engine control module (ECM) and the central electronic module (CEM) is missing or is faulty.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is also stored if the steering wheel module indicates a faulty signal.

Substitute value
The cruise control function is disabled.
Possible source
Communication fault in the Control area network (CAN)
Defective steering wheel module.

Fault symptom[s]
Cruise control function cannot be activated.

In the mean time, the Cruise control button (on the right side) is slightly getting stuck with the steering wheel leather.
As the picture in the post says -I will trim the end bit leather with a sharp knife.
And check. Will keep updated.
If any one has any thoughts please advise.
Thank you.
