Right i am back from holiday and have done a bit of investigation

On removing the oil filler cap with the engine running i dont get the popping sound like i used to before i changed the engine mounts, and putting my hand over the filler point i get no excessive pressure, removing the pipework from the control valve gets me the popping sound back so i guess the vacum system is ok.
I do however get a low rythmic boom which i can hear through the air filter box any thoughts on what that could be?

Just checked the pipework to the intercooler and no excessive oil, then checked the egr pipework and no excessive build up there either

So no excessive pressurisation, no oily deposit on the air intake/intercooler system so the oil must be going through the turbo and into the exhaust system then getting caught in the dpf seems plausable?

Did you have any joy getting this sorted? I have a 2007 XC90 with the same problem and roughly the same mileage.

Just using oil really. Mentioned at the last service - by a local indie - who seemed to think it wasn't unusual. I guess it's about a litre every couple of thousand miles. It's a 2007 with the 185 D5 & 165k.
