Yes and No!!
To repeat had x2 fully functioning keys other than the floppy key syndrome.
Okay took the car into the Volvo dealer parked up and handed over the keys, one which I had been using daily and the other one in two halves ready to be connected and reprogrammed (the half with the buttons still working). Took about 30mins or so and advised all done paid up total was £71.50, was actually quoted £80. Went out to the car and nothing... wouldn't unlock! Opened manually and started the car and did so no problem. Removed key and attempted to lock it worked. Made service person aware but thought nothing of it and drove approx 20mins home, then couldn't lock or unlock the car! Again put key back in ignition removed and would work again! Tried the key I had been using daily for the past 2 months or so and the one I had used this morning to drive to the garage, and nothing dead no locking or unlocking.
Back to the dealer....
Car taken back in for another 30+ mins. Service person came and saw me saying that the key that had been reprogrammed had a slight issue with the battery not sitting flush. Now in place and working. Then I was told the other key was not programmed to the car! Only one key was ever known to the car!! I felt that I had to try and convince the service person and now mechanic who came out to the car that I arrived this morning with x2 serviceable keys and now only one!!
Anyway they have kindly agreed to order another replacement key at the dealers expensive as agreed they should have checked both keys when I booked it in.
Waiting for the call to say key has arrived!
