Default cambelt change

had a new cambelt fitted to my 2.5 diesel v70 auto today....engine management light on now ..its the d5252t engine...any ideas ? mass flow loose pipe ?

Yes , this is a specialist job , a lot of know how needed ... They Probably have failed to do the last part of the job , ie set the fuel pump timing using a special reader instrument .

Thanks for the prompt replies...chap had two goes at it ,first time car kept stalling on braking ,now drives ok but as i said engine management light on ...also seems to lack power at top end...anyone know what the setting should be ?

The timing needs to be set dynamically with the engine running at 1200 RPM.
To do this, depending which engine management system is fitted, you need either a Volvo scan tool, Vol-FCR, VADIS & VCT2000 or Vida & DiCE.

Glad it's fixed but was it the timing and what did they do to fix it,ie vida etc?
It might help others when there local garage get it wrong.

Don't worry. Despite the huge amount of information available on this job, garages continue to get it wrong in a big way. It isn't the "usual" sort of cambelt change in several respects, as the VW 2.5TDI unit has a few peculiarities from the 1980's when it was designed.

The biggest problem is convincing garages to spend the essential few quid to replace the diamond washer between the crank TV-damper pulley and the nose of the crankshaft. It's part of the job, it's in some kits (but not others) and it's essential - if you want your engine to continue turning for the next couple of years!
