Default Engine management light on!

Took my 2018 XC90 out for a drive today and noticed the orange engine light is on. I did mean to have a look at the manual before locking up, but forgot.

Is this serious? Will a trip to the garage is required? Didn’t notice any reduction in power.

Cheers

Jamie.

Definitely requires a visit to dealer as soon as possible to get it checked, it may not be serious but there is a problem somewhere, it may be related to exhaust DPF or emissions but could be anything.

This has happened twice with my March 2018 XC90.. Both times visit to dealers and as far as could understand something was reset or cleaned. Only took 15 mins or so. Have read somewhere that if you take vehicle on shortish trip and open it up it (Within speed limit)sometimes clears itself. Mine only had about 5000 on clock first time and 10000 second time.

If it only took 15 minutes then it was probably the O2 sensor which they cleaned.

O2 sensors getting dirty and causing Engine Management Light to illuminate was a known problem on the engine in my V40 D4; not sure whether it's the same engine, but in the V40 the sensor had to be cleaned every few months.

Spoke the service department and they’re taking it in for investigation. I did mention it came on after filling up at Tesco’s and was told Volvo doesn’t recommend supermarket fuel as it has a high water content!😳
