V70 door locking problems
Hi,
Can anyone help with any ideas on curing a problem with lock the doors on my car. Its a 2001 V70 estate. The problems started with the door open light on the dash for the nearside passenger door coming on intermittantly then getting progressively worse in that it is staying on longer, but this may be coincident. Now I am now unable to lock the doors using the key fob. The doors will lock if I push down the buttons manually on the three doors and then lock the drivers door with the key.(I am unable to lock the tailgate door) The driver door window also has stopped working? PS Have ruled out the keyfobs as both sets off batteries have been changed and neither work therefore suspect problems in other areas. Any help welcome. mac |

Hi - just joined the forum. Picked up my 2002 V70 D5 (literally just got home) & I've got the same symptoms as Mac. If I push the passenger door in while locking via the fob then it is ok, but otherwise I can't lock it while the interior light is on. Managed it once, then the alarm went off .
I can't see any obvious signs of a switch, so I'm guessing its internal to the lock mechanism. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Many thanks Simon |

I got as far as removing the door card/trim today. I was hoping with the wiring disconnected the problem would 'go away' for now. However, I still get the 'passenger door open' message & can't lock the car even with the key.
I will get the lock unit out out tomorrow if I can, but does anyone know which 2 wires in the door loom I could connect together to make the system think the door was shut? I've found a few wiring diagrams which I will have a look at in the meantime. BTW - has anyone fixed this switch before? I've seen a few references to bending the lever on the microswitch, but there don'r seem to be many threads on here about it. Thanks in advance Simon. |

Anyone got any info on how tricky it is to remove & repair the door lock unit? It's now getting quite urgent as I need to start using the car on a daily basis & its a bit of a bugger having to leave it unlocked with no alarm

Quick update: stripped door panel & managed to make a temporary repair. Thanks to the wiring diagram I was able to trace the wires from the door-open sensor (Pink & Brown) & shorted them together. This emulates the closed signal so the alarm & central locking can be used normally. Obviously, the interior light no longer comes on when I open the passenger door, but I can live with that for now. A new unit from Volvo is £140, so I'm to have a crack at fixing the old one first.

Yes, Simon Jones is to be commended for supplying updates but one can't help thinking that both himself and Mac would have a better chance of getting relevant responses had they originally posted in the correct forums.
