Default How to remove fine scratches from windscreen?

First frosty morning of winter and my windscreen (Polo not XC60 thankfully) is now smeared with fine scratches.

I am thinking these can be (easily?) removed by polishing?

Any advice? Thanks!

Default Plastic scrapers

One of the posts mentioned scratches being caused by a plastic scraper, I just used one of them this morning!! Did'nt think plastic would scratch glass, anyone ever experienced this?

That is exactly what happened to me. Squeegee side as well. First time ever. What rotten luck.

yep - every car I have owned has ended up with fine marks from the winter ice scrapers and using the defrost sprays doesn't help as when I drive up the hill the air gets colder and the windscreen freezes again - so it is back to the scraper and fine scratches ...

I have learned to live with them

I don't think it's the plastic that does the damage, it's fine bits of dirt on the windscreen or scraper that does the damage when you ferociously drag it across the glass with the scraper.

Check your insurance. Mine allows one windscreen replacement per year, without penalty. (Although I suspect that if I did claim year after year, there would be a penalty payment imposed.)

I heard a tip that running a cloth soaked in some vinegar down the wiper blades helped to reduce scratches. Don't know if it would make any difference or not....

...or just sand down the rest of the windscreen until its flush with the previously scratched bits.......
