Me too, I need to replace both front and rear after 60000 miles.

It's not difficult, but you'll need to slacken the handbrake first, that's done by undoing a nut behind the handbrake lever itself from within the car, so the hardest part is lifting the handbrake boot, it's glued to the handbrake aperture frame of the central tunnel. Once the boot is lifted, you'll see that adjusting nut in question.

Once you've reached that adjusting nut, follow these procedures for replacing the rear pads. file is is in .pdf format.

it's a doddle - they rear are ate type and have an aniti rattle spring and two slides which are removed using a 7mm hex key

You will need a wind back tool and other than that a bleed device

Thanks for the reassurance!

Have found some pictures on another thread and step by step instructions but it is always good to have something that you can follow so you don't forget anything.

I've done the front discs and pads but am just a bit more dubious about doing the rears with the handbrake etc.

Smile those ate calipers

Not sure what year yours is, but winding back the pistons on the rear calipers can be surprisingly difficult... heres a link that might be useful to read before having a go, and just incase you dont have the right size windback tool..

Full disclosure: I've not done this job on our cars - but I have done it plenty.

Calliper spreaders are cheap - there's no excuse for not having one if you're attempting this job. The brake fluid reservior cap needs to be removed too - just keep an eye on the levels as you push out the calliper pistons.
